European Heritage Days – Doors open for great places

By September 5, 2015 February 5th, 2018 Uncategorized

Get exploring with MYC during Open Heritage Days! Upcoming 12th and 13th of September – thousands of historical buildings and sites throughout Europe are open to the public free of charge. Besides opening their doors, many locations also organize on-site activities like exhibitions, musical performances and guided tours.

Why don’t you check out MYC, the places and their stories during Open Heritage Days? Did you know there are already more than 21.000 places in the Map Your City app! Great historic places, hidden architecture gems, urban interventions, creative hubs…more are added every day! MYC is a great companion to have with you upcoming open heritage weekend.

Add heritage that stole your heart or share your awesome ideas for some abandoned places. Collect your favorites on your own map. Add your pictures or leave a message on the building “wall”. And off course you can share your favorite places with your friends and family, co-workers or fellow-students through social media.

Map Your City just launched and we are celebrating with events

Only this May His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and  Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands royally launched MYC in Canada by mapping MYC’s first building in Toronto!

With a series of events we are celebrating the launch of our cool app. Now join us this upcoming weekend during Open Heritage Days in Amsterdam.

Get on your bike and connect with us this Saturday September 12 at Heemschut Amsterdam or on Sunday September 13 exploring the North of Amsterdam.

  • Heemschut Heritage Amsterdam tour on Saturday starts at the Korenmetershuisje and will be visiting some wonderful Amsterdam historic places on the MYC map. There is no need to subscribe to join. Just check the details at Heemschut Amsterdam on twitter @HeemschutAmster
  • The Waterfront Hacking Heritage bikeride in the North of Amsterdam starts Sunday 13 at 14.00 (sharp!) from NDSM (Just outside of BBROOD). There is no need to subscribe to join. And don’t worry if you cannot bring your bike, it is not that far to walk either 🙂 . Just be sure to check the latest details here or the MYC facebookpage. After a short tour on NDSM we will take the Houthavenferry to De Westerdoksdijk  to continue to our final destination Amsterdam School Style Museum Het Schip for an amazing guided inside tour. The museum charges a small € 7,50 pp tour fee, to sustain the museum.

So either get on your bike and go on the Heemschut Hacking Heritage tour this Saturday, meet us on NDSM on Sunday, organize a bike ride of your own (simply search for Hacking Heritage Bikerides in the app or check the website) or just enjoy having MYC as your heritage exploring companion.

Tell us your experience!

We love to see and hear from you! We aim to give you an amazing experience, but there maybe things that you would like to work differently or you might have additional ideas for MYC’s future development. Please let us know, as a startup we want to learn from your experiences and continuously improve!

Downloading and using MYC is forever free and is available for iOS and Android, download the app on MapYour.City. If you join some of the MYC communities you get introduced to MYC additional features for free as well.

The MYC app is made with a 🙂 in Amsterdam and it goes without saying the whole MYC team is really proud of its result and want to give you an awesome experience.
