On July 16, 2020, the Court of Justice for the European Union (CJEU) issued a ruling in a case invalidating the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework, one of the ways for companies to transfer data legally from the EU to the US. Additionally, on September 8, 2020, the Swiss Data Protection Authority (the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, “FDPIC”), announced in a position statement that it no longer considers the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield adequate for the purposes of transfers of personal data from Switzerland to the U.S. We know that some of you may have questions about how these changes impact your use of Map Your City.

First, we want to reassure you that you can continue using Map Your City in compliance with EU law as always. As a European based business we have always adhered to European Law.  Besides providing our customers with the protection for data transfers from the EEA to the US in compliance with the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield Frameworks. We also always seek to conclude data processing agreements with each service provider before third party services are implemented into the website or Service in order to ensure that your Personal Information is used, stored, and transferred securely and in accordance with European Union law. That includes all service providers we contract from outside of the EU.

We’re – as always – committed to protecting your ability to transfer and process data on our platform.
